CHARISMA - YOU CAN HAVE IT!

The word ‘charisma’ comes from the Greek word ‘charis’, which means favour or grace.  This is the easy charm your friend has without having to clown around, the natural leadership quality your manager has even when he isn’t the boss and the quiet assurance one possesses in times of conflict.  This quality isn’t exclusive to celebrities or movie stars!  You can have it.

“Charisma is a sparkle in people that money can’t buy.  It’s an invisible energy with visible results”
- Marianne Williamson

THE 3 TYPES OF CHARISMA:

Normal Charisma :
This person is attractive, energetic, positive and he makes you feel totally at ease when you are with him.

Negative Charisma :
This person possesses a charming but ‘bad boy’ persona, lives dangerously and girls are often attracted to men like these.

Transformational Charisma :
This person makes you feel happy whenever you are around him. He has to ability to make you smile when you feel down, change your negative outlook and tend to rub off his own happiness onto you.

THE 5Ps to CHARISMA :

1. PRESENCE

This starts with excellent grooming and impressing others at first sight.  Being well dressed is to dress appropriately, look current and in clothes that reflect your personality.

2. POISE

Walk straight and walk tall and own the room when you walk into it. Gentlemen, own your personal alpha male swagger and ladies, strut your feminine gait to project your visual confidence.

3. POSITIVE ATTITUDE

Positivity starts with you liking yourself.  Be comfortable with who you are, be optimistic and passionate.  We all have problems but learn to compartmentalize them.

4. PLEASANTRIES

Good manners is about you being considerate and sensitive to others’ feelings.  Never embarrass anyone, anytime.  With the right manners and a huge dose of sincerity, make the person you are talking to feel like he or she is the most important person on Planet Earth and you’ll be remembered.

5. POLITE CONVERSATION SKILLS

The secret to being a great conversationalist is to be a great listener.  When you’re talking with someone, do not check your mobile phone.  Keep eye contact, listen with interest instead and pay attention.

“How can you have charisma? Be more concerned about making others feel good about themselves than you are making them feel good about you.”
- Dan Reiland
